Correction Policy

Last Updated: June 10, 2026

At Sportlygist, we operate in the fast-paced environment of digital sports journalism, where breaking news, live match updates, and rapid analysis are standard. While our editorial team strives for absolute accuracy in every article published, we recognize that errors can occasionally happen.

Transparency and accountability are the foundations of our relationship with our readers. This Correction Policy outlines how we handle errors, updates, and retractions to maintain the highest standards of journalistic integrity.

Our Commitment to Accuracy

We are committed to correcting factual errors swiftly, completely, and transparently. We do not stealth-edit or quietly alter articles to hide mistakes. When a significant error is made, we ensure our readers are informed of what was wrong and how it has been fixed.

Types of Editorial Amendments

Depending on the nature of the issue, we categorize our amendments into four specific types:

  • Correction: Used when a factual error has been published (e.g., incorrect match scores, wrong player names, or inaccurate statistics). The article will be updated with the correct information, and an editor’s note will be placed at the top or bottom of the page detailing the change.

  • Update: Used when a developing story requires the addition of new, critical information that was not available at the time of original publication. Updates are clearly time-stamped.

  • Clarification: Used when the facts in a story are technically accurate, but the phrasing or context may be misleading or confusing to the reader. We will adjust the text and note the clarification.

  • Retraction: Reserved for severe breaches of our editorial standards, where a story is found to be fundamentally flawed, completely fabricated, or entirely unsubstantiated. The original text will be removed and replaced with a detailed explanation of why the article was retracted.

How We Display Corrections

When an article is amended for a factual correction, we follow a standard formatting protocol to ensure maximum transparency:

  1. The inaccurate information is corrected within the body of the text.

  2. An “Editor’s Note” or “Correction” tag is added to the article (typically at the bottom of the piece, or at the top for major corrections).

  3. The note will explicitly state what the original error was, the correct information, and the date the correction was made.

Example: “Correction: A previous version of this article incorrectly stated the final score of the match. The correct score was 2-1, not 2-0. The article has been updated.”

Social Media Corrections

If an error is published on our official social media channels (@sportlygist), we will correct it natively on that platform.

  • On platforms that allow editing, we will edit the post and note the correction.

  • On platforms where editing is not possible (such as certain features on X/Twitter), we will delete the incorrect post, publish a new post with the correct information, and explicitly state that a previous post was deleted due to an error.

How to Report an Error

We deeply value the vigilance of our global sports community. If you spot a factual error, a misspelled name, a broken link, or a missing attribution in any of our reporting, please let us know immediately.

To report an error, please contact our editorial desk directly:

  • Email: contact@sportlygist.com (Please include “Correction” in the subject line)

Please include the following in your message:

  1. A link (URL) to the article in question.

  2. A description of the exact error.

Once received, our Senior Sports Editor and the editorial team will review the claim, verify the facts, and issue a prompt correction if an error is confirmed.
