At Sportlygist, our primary mission is to deliver fast, accurate, and authoritative sports journalism to our global readership. To maintain the trust of our audience and adhere to the highest industry standards—including Google’s Search Quality Rater Guidelines for Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness (E-E-A-T)—our newsroom operates under a strict Editorial Policy.

This policy outlines the principles and standards that guide our journalists, editors, and contributors.

1. Editorial Mission & Independence

Our goal is to cover the global sporting landscape—from international cricket matches and football transfers to tennis grand slams and athletics—with depth, nuance, and unwavering objectivity.

  • Independent Journalism: Sportlygist is an independent digital news organization. Our editorial decisions are made solely by our editorial board, led by Founder and Senior Sports Editor, Prakash Gupta.

  • Separation of Content and Commerce: Advertising, sponsorships, or affiliate partnerships have absolutely no influence on our reporting, match analysis, or news prioritization. Sponsored content, when published, will always be explicitly labeled as such.

2. Accuracy & Fact-Checking Standard

Trust is the foundation of our publication. We are committed to publishing accurate information across all our platforms.

  • Verification: Every article, statistical claim, and news report is subject to rigorous fact-checking before publication. We do not publish rumors as facts. If a story is developing or based on unverified reports, it will be clearly stated.

  • Primary Sourcing: Our writers prioritize primary sources, including official team announcements, press conferences, player interviews, and recognized sports governing bodies (e.g., ICC, FIFA, IOC).

  • Expertise: Analytical pieces, match previews, and strategic breakdowns are written by journalists with demonstrated knowledge and experience in the respective sport.

3. Transparency & Sourcing

We believe readers have the right to know where our information comes from.

  • Attribution: We clearly attribute quotes, statistics, and exclusive news breaks to their original sources.

  • Anonymous Sources: We rarely use anonymous sources. We will only do so if the information is vital to the public interest, the source is known to our senior editors to be credible, and there is no other way to obtain the information. We will explain to our readers why the source requested anonymity.

4. Corrections Policy

Even with rigorous editorial oversight, mistakes can happen in a fast-paced 24/7 news cycle. When they do, we believe in swift, transparent accountability.

  • If a factual error is discovered in our reporting, the article will be updated immediately.

  • A clear “Correction” or “Update” note will be appended to the top or bottom of the article, explaining what was changed and when.

5. Originality & Plagiarism

Sportlygist has a zero-tolerance policy for plagiarism.

  • All content published on our platform must be original.

  • We do not accept scraped content, heavily spun articles, or the unauthorized use of copyrighted imagery or text. Any contributor found violating this policy will be immediately terminated.

6. Artificial Intelligence (AI) Usage

In alignment with modern digital publishing standards, our stance on generative AI is rooted in transparency and human oversight:

  • Human-First Journalism: AI is not a substitute for human reporting, critical analysis, or journalistic intuition. All published articles are written, reviewed, and authorized by human editors.

  • AI as a Tool: We may use AI tools for backend tasks such as grammar checking, data sorting, or generating preliminary outlines. However, AI is never used to generate unverified news stories or hallucinate facts.

7. Opinion vs. News Reporting

We believe in providing our readers with a clear distinction between objective news and subjective analysis.

  • News Articles: Focused entirely on who, what, when, where, and why, without the author’s personal bias.

  • Opinion / Editorials / Match Predictions: Clearly categorized and labeled to indicate that the content reflects the subjective viewpoint, expertise, or strategic analysis of the author.
